Bike route 1 is the Atlantic Coast Route and Bike Route 76 is the Trans-Am route which goes across the U.S. The two routes coincided today for ten miles near Ashland, VA. Hal and I rode the Trans-Am route from VA to Oregon in 1976 which was the inaugural year for the route - that was 36 years ago!!
