Many areas of the road from Summerville to Walterboro, SC this morning were lined with wild flowers. The riding has been almost totally flat since southern VA but we had small rolling hills this morning.
The weather report for today is not good and the sky is very overcast. Nevertheless, it didn't start raining until we stopped for lunch. We have 30 miles to ride after lunch to the campground where we should meet Larry. After last night's fiasco we called the campground this morning to make sure they have space. And, as a contingency we located three motels near the campground.
Yesterday and today we have been riding inland and a lot of the terrain looks swampy. Unlike along the coast you don't see much economic development except when you are near an Interstate interchange. Several banks we passed had signs offering free lists of foreclosed properties - not a positive economic indicator!
