We planned to make Windsor Locks, CT today which would have been about 41 miles. However, we made it there early so we decided to continue on to Granby, CT. Total mileage today: 54 miles.
Some difficult hills this morning but the rest of the day was primarily rolling hills. Didn't find any campgrounds near Windsor Locks or Granby so we opted for the Granby Motel. The above picture shows my bike comfortably parked in the motel room.
Hopefully, we can get an early start tomorrow because we won't have tents to take down and pack up. The goal tomorrow is to cycle across the state line into NY state by the end of the day. We have been told that the route tomorrow includes some significant hills so we will see how much mileage we can cover. There is also a slight chance of rain tomorrow - I greatly dislike riding in the rain. Despite all the high tech GoreTex and eVent clothing you still get wet when you ride all day in the rain!
Hal got a cell phone call from Peter - the long distance cyclist we met on the road in Maine last week. Peter stayed in the Granby Motel last night so we seem to be about a day behind him. He may turn west tomorrow so our path's may not cross again on this trip. He is essentially cycling across the U.S. diagonally from Maine to Dan Diego, CA while we will be heading south primarily in a few days.
