We are all wearing our Atlantic Coast Adventure Cycling jerseys. Today we did about 54 miles from Granby, NY to Middleton, NY. I think this was the hardest day of the trip so far. From Granby, CT to Pleasant Valley, CT we had continuous long and steep climbs. From Pleasant Valley to Riverton, CT we had a short respite of about 9 miles where we cycled on a relatively flat road which followed a river.
In Riverton we again encountered long steep hills which I think were steeper and longer than the hills we had in the morning. I was so worn out by the hills I actually walked the last 50 yards up one steep hill! Larry gave a packet of energy gel which seemed to help - I didn't walk any more hills.
We stopped for lunch in Norfolk, CT where we ate outdoors on a patio. Cute little town. The restaurant had a theater were musicians performed. It looked like they got some pretty good performers.
We are camping at a state park 2 miles north of Middleton, NY. Beautiful park and the only campers other than us are a couple of cyclists a few campsites away.
My shin feels much better. I realized at noon it actually had totally stopped hurting. However, by the end of the day it was hurting again. However, it a lot less than it did last week so I guess it is slowly getting better.
Tomorrow we plan to head south to Poughkeepsie, NY. I think it should be an easier day.
