Today we left Maine and crossed the border into Portsmouth, NH. Unfortunately, the only bridge crossing the water into Portsmouth that allows bikes is being replaced. A shuttle bus - see pic - was provided to take people and bikes into Portsmouth. However, the bikes needed to be loaded on a bike rack so we had to take ALL the bags off the bikes and then reinstall them in Portsmouth.

When we first learned of the bus we checked the posted schedule and found we had missed it by two minutes so we had to wait an hour for the next bus. There is a nice restaurant we found nearby so we had some good clam chowder while waiting for the bus.

Most of the riding today was again easy rolling hills although by Kingston, NH we had some larger hills that reminded me of the first few days in Maine. Plus, I discovered my front tire had a slow leak and had lost 50% of its air which greatly increased the rolling resistance of the bike. I pumped the tire up to see how long it would hold since it seemed like a slow leak.

Larry went ahead to the post office Exeter,NH to pick up a book that was mailed there for him. We stopped at a nice bike shop in Exeter called Exeter Cycles. I needed to replace the wiring harness on my cycle computer because the speed sensor was working intermittently. They didn't have a replacement part so I bought a new wireless computer which they installed while I waited.

Found a really nice and quiet campground near Kingston, NH. Last night the campground was very noisy. And, it was located next to small zoo which had some animals that made some strange noises all night.

Total mileage today about 44 miles.
