Off into the mist --- we started with an uphill climb.
Surprisingly, the hills were not that bad. However, later in the day it rained off and on. It varied from a light drizzle which was comfortable to several downpours which left us soggy and cold.
After about 25 miles we went onto the Down East Sunrise trail in Machias, Maine. It is a hard packed dirt trail for bicycles and ATVs. It is an old railroad right of way so the ups and downs on it are very gentle.
Total mileage today just under 60 miles. The last 5 was in a pretty good downpour. We decided on a motel tonight instead of camping in order to dry out!
